POWER LINES MOVED UNDERGROUND AT BAKER COLLEGE’S ROYAL OAK CAMPUS

Our project partners at Colasanti Construction have continued to pour concrete for the floors, walls and columns on the second floor of our future Royal Oak campus over the last week. The crew is also setting forms and decking for the third floor, which will be ready for concrete pouring in the next few weeks. While this takes place, Lafayette between 4th and 5th Streets will continue to experience periodic lane closures throughout the concrete pouring. Streets will remain open for north and south bound traffic.

During this time, DTE Energy has been onsite to install permanent and temporary power to the building underground, which includes conduit under 5th Street. DTE has since removed the overhead power lines on the west side of the building to allow for the continued vertical build of the seven-story building. Additionally, connectivity services like AT&T, Comcast and WOW! have also been moved underground to create a better atmosphere as we continue making our way vertical. These lines not only support our future campus infrastructure, but also our neighboring businesses providing future protection of the powerlines and an unobstructed airspace.
